  1. Day 1,2 Sigiriya

    Welcome / Ayubowan to Sri Lanka by your driver & local Sri Lankan assist/guide. On arrival pick up from airport at Negembo and transfer you to coastal Negembo (about 1/2 hour) where we begin our cycling adventure to experience the inland delights of Sri Lanka. We bike 40 km along a picturesque route past many fishing communities as well as rice paddy fields to a town where you get to see the towering statue of Buddha. Lunch is served in a cozy little beach restaurant. With peace, good food and a great start you’re up and ready for an insightful tour into rural Serendib.

    Leaving Dambulla early we head up past vast stretches of paddy fields on tarmac as well as red dirt roads. The tour takes you into the country-side and makes sure you get a feel of the sounds and habits of a Lankan village. Paddy fields and coconut farms are fed by a large network of canals in these parts. Your ride takes you into the UNESCO Heritage site of Sigiriya which has ancient remains as early as the 15th century BC. This ancient site stand testimony to the Sri Lankan culture, beliefs and habits of the rulers of Ceylon. After lunch at your hotel, you’re free to laze around in a pool or chit-chat with birds in the park.

  2. Day 3 Polonnaruwa

    After your visit to the Dambulla Cave temples which is yet another popular Buddhist spot we head out on a short transfer and bike towards the ancient city Polonnaruwa. We head up past vast stretches of paddy fields on tarmac. The tour takes you into the country-side and makes sure you get a feel of the sounds and habits of a Lankan village. Later in the evening go for a sightseeing to understand the 0cultural history of Polonnaruwa.  Kaduruwela area is the Polonnaruwa New Town and the other part of Polonnaruwa remains as the royal ancient city of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa.

  3. Day 4 Illukumbura

    Today we are cycling towards Illukkumbura, which is famous for the Knuckle Hill Ranges, which got the name because it looks like the knuckles of a clenched fist, that could be seen from many viewpoints. The route covers forests and some beautiful grass lands. There are several designated bicycling routes which give the opportunity to explore and feel the enthralling landscapes across the Dumbara hills and valleys all alive with the sound of nature’s music.

  4. Day 5,6 Kandy

    After breakfast start your cycling downhill towards the spice country of Matala and then bike to Kandy, which is renowned for the Temple of the Tooth relic – a temple that is magnificent & highly venerated by the people of the island. After your stop and walk to the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, head out biking towards the hill country. The routes are undulating with a few climbs and many descents. Hop into your hotel for lunch and enjoy the rest of your day overlooking the lake.

    Go for sightseeing on the next day; enjoy the spice plantation, Tea Estate and the fresh air.

  5. Day 7 Nuwar Eliya

    What fun without a climb to Nuwara Eliya, known as the tea producing capital of Sri Lanka. Today you journey to the top of the world across a limitless mountain vista adorned by a green carpet of tea plants. We will cycle to the hill country with tea plantations on either side, the ubiquitous temples, homes of the tea workers as well as colonial homes set up by the English during their rule. If time permits also walk to the nearby markets and towns.

  6. Day 8 Ella

    This morning we heading out of the town for our biking towards the hills in Ella which is a packed wildlife spot with giant squirrels and many birds. In the folklores, it says that the Sri Lankan demon King Ravana abducted Sita from India and kept her hidden in the Hakgala NP. The area was offered to Sita as a pleasure garden which is mentioned in the Ramayana (Hindu Epic) as Ashok Vatika.

  7. Day 9 Udawalawe National Park

    From Ella you cycle downhill all the way past many villages before heading towards Udawalawe National Park. You will pass local markets before entering the National park area. The area is home to many fruit trees and will notice fruit sellers as well as families selling yogurt along the streets.

  8. Day 10 Unawatuna

    This morning it’s off to South, following one of the irrigation canals flowing towards the south. Time for an infusion of something different in the topography – bananas! The crisp air of the countryside and the rural setting is perfect to understand and enjoy the interiors of the country. Its only when we have to hit Tangalle, is when we hit the main road. And that’s when the warm clammy seaside air hits you, sometimes heavy with the weight of the smell of fish. If we stick to timing, there will be no better way to spend the evening than to see the sun descending into the Indian Ocean.

  9. Day 11 Depart to Colombo
